The tiny and cute Robin.

This robin has become a regular visitor of my garden.. He gradually is approaching to my window and me. We would become friends very soon and I hope to offer him food from my hand.

A legend about the robin.
A small brown bird shared the stable with the Holy Family in Bethlehem at  Christmas.
At night, while the family was sleeping, the robin noticed that the fire was dying down.
So he flew down to embers and kept the fire alive with the movement of the wings for all the night, to keep  baby Jesus warm and safe.
In the morning, he was rewarded with a nice bright orange breast as a symbol of his love for the newborn King

Living harmoniously...

Tolerance is what human beings need sometimes. We should imitate the birds' behaviour and the respectful attitude towards the diversity in nature.Birds have no barriers, even when they are looking for food. We need to learn by those little and marvellous creatures of God.

Poor little sparrows...life is often a surprise...

Mamma blackbird is searching for food for her little babies. I can work in the garden even with my dogs, she doesn't have fear of me.She often flies over and around me, touching my hair. Maybe she is jealous of her babies, especially when I stay closely to her house. But we are good friends.

Hoopoes are back. Every year they like staying in my garden and having food. There are a lot of insects, so food is also for other birds like sparrows, white wagtails, blackbirds...and so on. The hoopoe is a very beautiful bird. I like watching at it every day.Till now I saw two of them, but all the family of hoopoes is here. I shall find out where they nest...

Mamma blackbird is hatching...

Mamma blackbird is hatching full time every day.Yesterday I saw  the blackbird male near her, but only for a few moments. Then he went away. He usually sings a very nice song for her...you can hear it in the above video. He is  so in love with her..Now she knows me very well and when I stand up on the chair to see her, she stays still and quite. But I'll always  try not to make any noise, because I don't want to disturb her hatching...

Mamma Blackbird with eggs-A fascinating experience!

June 7th 2011 - Mamma blackbird was away looking for food, so I could take this photo of her eggs.  I wasn't so sure to find already the eggs...and when I saw them in my camera I was so excited...They are four as we can see in that photo. The colour is light green . The previous hatching was of about 4/5eggs. Now I have to wait for about 13/14 days till the incubation period will end. So let's wait and see what is going to happen...

Mom blackbird is busy

New lives are coming up soon. Mom blackbird was very often around my garden searching for something during last days..And this morning, while I was cutting the branches of the wisteria plant, I found Mom blackbird sitting comfortably down her nest. She was a little surprised to see me, but she knows me very well and quietly she let me take those pictures. I did not want to bother her too much, so I took only two pictures and I went away, leaving also my work on the wisteria plant.

White Wagtail

It's always a very happy moment to spot this little bird -about 20cm long-
The design of its feathers is perfect and the white and black colours are so fascinating.
This beautiful bird comes to eat and drink many times during the day, so I can enjoy its presence at lunch time , but also in the dry mild afternoons of this lovely  and sunny spring.
